Remembrance Day is just around the corner. It is a day where we honour those who paid the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives to ensure freedoms for so many of us. Members of the Lethbridge Legion’s Remembrance Day Committee were at a Cultural SPC meeting at city hall on Thursday. They were asking that 4 Avenue between 9 Street and 11 Street South be renamed Veteran’s Avenue between November 4 to the 11 as an annual event. They were also asking for a veterans banner to be installed the week leading up to Remembrance Day. The recommendation will be set before City Council now.

The committee also asked the city to support Poppy Tag Day which is the day when we can don those bright red poppies starting October 31st.

Aired on: Thursday, October 20, 2022
