Vote NO on the 1% Tax Increase

MAYOR DEMINGS is proposing a transportation penny tax, which on the surface sounds great but… It’s NOT a penny tax increase; it’s an increase in the sales tax rate over 15%.

LET’S TAKE A MOMENT AND DO THE MATH…

First, add 1 percent to the current sales tax rate of 6.5% to get 7.5%, the new rate; then, divide the new rate by 1% to get the increase in the sales tax rate, which would be a whopping 15.38%. This tax would generate $600 million a year. Next year’s projected budget is $5.9 billion, with the additional revenue representing a 10.2% increase in the county budget.

Moreover, it will cost the average family $300 – $400 per year ~ Per the Orlando Sentinel.

RAISING TAXES DURING A RECESSION IS NOT PRAGMATIC…

Especially with high gas prices, food prices… Inflation is squeezing our wallets, and now Demings wants to raise the sales tax that will AGAIN cost the average family $300 – $400 per year. Seriously?
