Psalms 72

O God, give your judgments to the king, and your righteousness to the king's son.
He will judge your people with justice, and your poor with justice.
The mountains will bring peace to the people, and the hills justice.
He will judge the afflicted of the people, he will save the children of the needy, and he will break the oppressor.
They will fear you as long as the sun and the moon endure, from generation to generation.
He will descend like rain on the mown grass, like showers that moisten the earth.
In his days the righteous will flourish, and there will be plenty of peace as long as the moon lasts.
He will rule from sea to sea, and from the river to the ends of the earth.
Those who dwell in the wilderness will bow down to him, and his enemies will lick the dust.
The kings of Tarshish and the islands will bring gifts; the kings of Sheba and Seba will offer gifts.
And all kings shall bow down before him; all nations will serve him.
For he will deliver the needy when he cries, as well as the afflicted and the one who has no one to help him.
He will have mercy on the poor and the afflicted, and will save the souls of the needy.
He will free their souls from deceit and violence, and precious will be his blood in his eyes.
And he shall live, and the gold of Sheba shall be given him; and prayer will be continually made for him; and every day they will bless him.
There will be a handful of wheat in the land on the tops of the mountains; its fruit will move like Lebanon, and those of the city will flourish like the grass of the earth.
His name will endure forever; his name will go from father to son as long as the sun lasts, and men will be blessed in him; all nations will call him blessed.
Blessed be the Lord God, the God of Israel, who alone works wonders.
And blessed be his glorious name forever; and let the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.

Psalms 73

Truly good is God to Israel, to the pure in heart.
As for me, my feet almost went astray; It didn't take long for my steps to slip.
For I envied the fools, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For there are no grievances in his death, but firm is his strength.
They are not in labor like other men, nor are they afflicted like other men.
Therefore pride surrounds them like a necklace; they clothe themselves in violence as in adornment.
Their eyes are swollen with fat; they have more than the heart could desire.
They are corrupt and maliciously deal with oppression; speak arrogantly.
They set their mouths against the heavens, and their tongues walk the earth.
That's why his people come back here, and water with a full glass is squeezed out of them.
And they say: How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?
Behold, these are wicked, and they prosper in the world; increase in riches.
Indeed, in vain have I purified my heart; and washed my hands in innocence.
For all day long I have been afflicted, and chastened every morning.
If I said: I will speak thus; behold, I would offend the generation of thy children.
When I thought of understanding this, it was very painful for me;
Until I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end.
Surely thou hast put them in slippery places; you cast them into destruction.
How they fall into desolation, almost in a moment! They are completely consumed with terrors.
Like a dream when one wakes up, so, O Lord, when you wake up, you will despise their appearance.
So my heart has turned sour, and my kidneys sting.
So I became brutish, and knew nothing; I was like an animal before you.
Yet I am continually with you; you held me up by my right hand.
You will guide me with your advice, and then you will receive me in glory.
Who have I in heaven but you? and on earth there is none I desire but you.
My flesh and my heart fail; but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion forever.
For behold, they that depart from thee shall perish; you have destroyed all those who turn from you.
But for me, it's good to get closer to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD to declare all your works.
