French cement maker Lafarge pleaded guilty on Tuesday (October 18) to a U.S. charge that it made payments to groups designated as terrorists by the United States, including Islamic State. U.S. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said during a news conference that the company's actions "reflect corporate crime that has reached a new low and a very dark place." U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York Breon Peace said Lafarge made "a deal with the devil."
