Mexican drug cartels in firefight over border smuggling routes

A Texas government drone has captured footage of two Mexican drug cartels getting into a firefight just south of the US-Mexico border, apparently over control of a popular drug and people smuggling route. Members of the Gulf Cartel and Northeast Cartel fought using .50 cal machine guns mounted to the back of trucks, with at least one of the cartels using a thermal imaging drone for reconnaissance. It’s unclear who won.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has already declared the cartels to be terrorist organizations, in an effort to crack down on both drug and human trafficking across the border, however Washington has yet to follow suit. Both Abbott and his Florida counterpart Ron DeSantis have taken to bussing migrants from their states to Washington DC and New York City in order to get the Democratic administration to take the border crisis seriously. Perhaps they should start bussing cartel members there as well.
