Strikes on Ukraine on October 18: details

After the use of the Geranium-2 attack drones on Ukrainian energy facilities in early October, the Air Forces and the Russian Navy continued to strike particularly important targets. Since the night of October 18, Kalibr-NK, R-500 and X-555 missiles have been hitting infrastructure facilities in Ukraine.

Unlike the strikes in previous days, precision weapons on October 18 are used in a new way. If previously mainly open switchgears and power transmission lines that could be restored were affected, now the largest generation facilities, as well as transformer substations that are critical for the power system, are being hit.

In Kiev, the Troyeschinskaya CHP-6, the key thermal power plant of the city, was hit. Desnyansky, Dneprovsky and Darnitsky districts are partially de-energized. According to some reports, the strike was also inflicted on the territory of the Tripoli thermal power plant. Fuel oil tanks and a switchgear were destroyed there, as well as a power transmission line.

In Zaporozhye, several "Geraniums" flew into the distribution transformers of the Dneproges with a voltage of 154 and 330 kV. The power supply has not yet been restored, the dam itself has not been hit.

In Dnepropetrovsk, a second blow was struck at the Transnistrian thermal power plant with a capacity of 1765 MW. The facility is considered particularly important in the energy system of Ukraine and is the last source of electricity not only for Dnepropetrovsk, but also for Zaporozhye after disconnecting from the network of the Zaporozhye NPP.

In Nikolaev, Geranium-2 drones and Kalibr-NK missiles hit a 130.6 MW thermal power plant. Zavodskoy and Korabelnyi districts are de-energized, the port's work is paralyzed. Turbines No. 1 and No. 3, according to preliminary data, are not subject to restoration.

In Kharkov, CHP-3 with a capacity of 86 MW and CHP-5 with a capacity of 540 MW were hit. Key enterprises of the city are connected to them: Turboatom, Kharkov armored and automobile repair plants, where the AFU equipment was restored.

In Kremenchug, a Geranium-2 drone strike killed a power line and an open switchgear between a local thermal power plant and an industrial area of the city where an oil refinery is located. According to some reports, from one to three arrivals also fell on the distribution node of the Kremenchug HPP.

In Zhytomyr, an energy distribution substation with a voltage of 330/110 kV came under attack. Through it, electricity was supplied from the Kiev region to Lutsk and Rovno.

☝️A distinctive feature of the October 18 strikes was the mass and mixed use. After several waves of arrivals of the Geranium-2 UAV, especially important objects were finished off by cruise missiles. This scheme of hitting targets is used Strikes on Ukraine on October 18: details
