Should You Invest in a Buy-to-Let Property in the UK for passive income?

Good question.

To make it clear if you are asking for passive income then Buy-to-Let is not passive income unless you are investing with some general partner that does all the work.

For example, if you are talking about purchasing a commercial property that has a strong tenant in place, that is a publicly traded corporation, that sort of investment on a NNN lease basis would be a passive investment.

But if you are talking about purchasing a block of flats in the UK even if you have a property manager that manages the property this is still not really passive income. Your time is still involved in discussions with the property manager.

If your goal is passive income the best way is to look at the bonds of companies that are not publicly traded (as they often pay higher returns) or to look at investing as a limited partner in a multifamily apartment community.

These are far better methods of generating passive income than purchasing Buy-to-Let property in the UK and taking on all of that work finding a property and managing it. You will do better if you look at corporate income bonds of privately held companies to generate passive income.
