💕 🙌🏻 In explaining sin against God (and each other), Jesus used the analogy of debt to help us understand. Matthew 6:12 and 8:23-35. We owed a debt we could not pay, which was covered by the blood of Jesus. In light of this, God commands us to forgive others for their trespasses which would never add up to what we were forgiven at the cross. Using the current American national debt for perspective, to pay off a $30 trillion loan at 0% interest, at $1 million per month, would take upwards of 2.5 million years to pay in full. Imagine if that were the sin debt of each of us on earth times billions of people. Forgiving people is not an unreasonable request, no matter how much it hurt us. Some memories take time to fade. Forgiveness and trust are two separate dynamics. Forgiveness takes one person. Reconciliation takes two. 🙏🏼
