Gibraltar is often considered to be one of Europes most dangerous airports because of its short runway, a highway runs over the tarmac, the runway is surround by sea at both ends, lack of ILS system, The Rock of Gibraltar to the South, and restricted Spanish airspace directly to the north.

These planes have several factors weighing against them for landing at Gibraltar Airport, making this airport one of europes most dangerous.

I love how these planes land on a tarmac that is surrounded on all sides by water. This is a must watch to see how close to the water these planes land and take off. There are very few airports in the world like this, that could support commercial airline jets to land and take off under such extreme conditions.

Gibraltar is one of the most dangerous airports in the world because the runway is short, it is surrounded by water on both ends of the tarmac, an international highway bisects the tarmac with cars, bikes and people on foot crossing. The weather caused by the Strait of Gibraltar can lead to brutal crosswinds. The pilots who land here have to be very qualified. Flights to Gibraltar are currently only from the United Kingdom because Gibraltar International Airport is technically a military airport not a civilian one.
