Ukrainian military officials said some 26 of about 40 drones that targeted Kyiv and other areas on October 16-17 were shot down before hitting their targets.

In multiple videos taken in Kyiv on Monday morning, small arms fire could be heard, as police shot at the drones. One group of officers described in a video how they had succeeded in downing at least one.

Footage here shows police firing near the landmark 101 Tower in Kyiv before a large explosion is heard.

Another video, taken at a nearby location, shows more gunfire aimed at a drone. Again, an explosion is heard, with the blast seen at the same location as the first video. It’s not clear from the video which shots, if any, in the barrages seen, downed the drone.

At least three people died in one strike, which hit a residential building in Kyiv, the deputy head of the president’s office, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, said.
