Gibraltar Airport Night Take Off 7 Oct 2022

Gibraltar Airport take off at night. There is usually only one flight that takes off this late from Gibraltar Airport. The other flights take off in the morning/early afternoon. So I got lucky to see this, and even more lucky that I had an invite to step beyond the barrier to get even closer to the tarmac!

Gibraltar is often considered an unusual airport because there is a roadway that runs through the middle of the runway. The roadway makes Gibraltar and unusual airport since cars and people cross the runway when there are no planes. Each time a plane comes in for landing or departing, traffic on this only roadway entrance into Gibraltar is stopped. This is probably the biggest factor that makes Gibraltar an unusual airport.
