Herbicide Selection for weeds in pond

Some basics of how I selected the herbicide to use spraying my pond.

How 2-4 D kills a plant:
1. Auxin based herbicide
2. Auxin regulates plant growth by interacting with a transcriptional repressor and removing it.
3. 2-4 D removes these repressors causing massive unregulated growth by the plant.
4. This expends a lot of energy growing and typically not up towards sunlight to help the plant.
5. Free Radical production skyrockets as a result of this growth.
6. Ethylene production goes up which also products Free Radicals.
7. abscisic acid is produced causing photosynthesis to stop so the plant is not creating energy.
8. The process to clear Free Radicals uses a lot of energy at the same time the plant has stopped producing energy with photosynthesis shut down so the plant starves to death.

How Round-up also known as Glyphosate kills a plant:
1. Attacks the plants secondary metabolic system.
2. It pulls minerals away from the plant’s enzyms so that it shuts down functions.
3. It will grab; magnesium, manganese, copper, zinc and others
4. As it does this the plant begins to shut down. It interrupts the plants systems.
It cannot kill a plant by itself. It weakens the immune system of the plant so that a pathogen can come in and kill the weakened plant.
