WATCH: FSCA's Financial Literacy Competition Final
The Financial Literacy Speech Competition National Final 2022
The FSCA, in collaboration with the Financial Planning Institute (FPI) and the nine
provincial Departments of Education will be hosting the final round of the annual Financial
Literacy Speech Competition (FLSC) at the President Hotel, Sea Point, Cape Town, on 14
October 2022.
This year’s competition saw thousands of Grade 11 learners from just over 300 non – fee
paying schools compete on their financial knowledge. The top three learners from each
district qualified for the provincial finals, which were held in September. All this now
culminates in the national finals, where the provincial winners will battle it out. These are:
1. Kesaobaka Maamogwa - Motswedi High School (North west)
2. Luthando Ndibala - Sakhisizwe Senior Secondary School (Eastern Cape)
3. Wanda Tshuma - Usasazo High School (Western Cape)
4. Melissa Fortuin - William Pescod High School (Northern Cape)
5. Naledi Ngobeni - MH Baloyi Secondary School (Gauteng)
6. Nolitha Lethiba - Moreko Secondary (Limpopo)
7. Oratile Kaibe - St Barnards Seconday School (Free State)
8. Sanele Msani - Little Flower Combined School (Kwa - Zulu Natal)
9. Solly Mabheka - Ubuhlebethu Secondary School (Mpumalanga)
Each provincial winner received a R30 000 investment prize, a tablet with 500 MB of data
and an all-expenses paid trip to Cape Town for the national finals.
In this final round the learners will prepare speeches on topics that test their financial
literacy knowledge, approved by the nine departments of education. The winners of this
round will receive a further R30 000, R15 000 and R7 500 respectively.

In addition, they will also receive full bursaries worth up to R500 000.00 per learner, to
study at a tertiary institution of their choice. All the schools of the provincial winners will
each receive education material to the value matching the winnings of their respective
learner.
Through this initiative the FSCA aims to promote financial literacy, not just amongst
learners, but also their families and communities.
