People Pleasing - From the series, Narcissism, Scapegoating and Gaslighting, 10-13-2022

The People Pleasing characteristic in a person reveals a lot in the way someone was treated as a child. Being a people pleaser means you put others before yourself. So, what happens when you're in need? When you're sick or going through a tough time, are others there for you? Do others still expect you to be there for them? And do you expect yourself to be?
Saying no when no is warranted is not wrong. If someone gets angry at you for saying no or doesn't want to continue a relationship with you because of it, then you can be certain that this is God's way of weeding them out of your life. Yes, it can be painful, but it can also be a relief. Our responsibility is not to get everyone to like us and to make them happy. Our responsibility is to do God's will. And sometimes doing God's will goes against what even we want. Let's not be a slave in our minds to things that oppress us. Someone can physically be oppressed but oppression in the mind is quite different. No one can be forced into oppression in his or her mind. That's our choice and no one can take away that kind of freedom.
