Look around the world.
A top Florida state official warned Thursday that firefighters have battled a number of fires caused by electric vehicle (EV) batteries waterlogged from Hurricane Ian.

EV batteries that have been waterlogged in the wake of the hurricane are at risk of corrosion, which could lead to unexpected fires, according to Jimmy Patronis, the state's top financial officer and fire marshal.

"There’s a ton of EVs disabled from Ian. As those batteries corrode, fires start," Patronis tweeted Thursday. "That’s a new challenge that our firefighters haven’t faced before. At least on this kind of scale."

China needs food:

In 2020, the U.S. ranked third in the world in agricultural production. The top five U.S. commodities were corn, dairy, soybeans, sugar cane, and wheat.

The U.S. was the world leader in agricultural exports in 2020 with over $145 billion.

China is determined to become self-sufficient with food, but it’s challenging with a population of $1.4 billion people.

So, they have targeted the best farmers in the world, the United States.

Since China can’t domestically produce enough food for the country, they are buying farmland in the U.S.

Seeds:

China has taken a massive interest in genetically modified seeds.

This would help the country increase domestic food production and make China a bigger competitor in the global food market.

In 2020, the U.S. exported over $1.6 billion worth of seeds. In 2021, the U.S. exported $173 million to China alone.

Rather than doing research on genetic seeds, China has made spying their best tool for learning about U.S. agriculture.

According to a U.S. government report, "Acquiring U.S. trade secrets through agricultural espionage has become a convenient way for China to improve its agricultural output and become more competitive in global markets."

Bioweapons:

Hypothetically, let's say China can develop bioweapons in a lab (not that this has happened, right???)

Genetically modified seeds, food, and livestock are one way a country could spread bioweapons.

Point is, not only could China increase food production with genetically modified agriculture, but they could export it to other countries.

This would give China the ability to produce more food for their population, while also making money on exports.

The reality is that the U.S. government needs to reduce China’s influence. We need to be less dependent on an enemy for our daily goods.

Instead, we are letting China buy up farmland all over the U.S.

If this continues our biggest threat will become more powerful.
