Stromboli volcano unleashes lava and smoke

The volcano on Italy’s Stromboli island erupted on Sunday morning, spewing smoke and ash, and sending a lava flow into the sea. The Department of Civil Protection has issued an orange-level alert. The island is home to around 400 people.
