Proforma Invoice from Global Compare Group Ltd PriceMe/NZ Compare - Phishing or Human Error?

Global Compare Group Ltd (T/A PriceMe) sent me an invoice for $23 I own NZ Electronics https://www.nz-electronics.co.nz and they have taken the liberty of promoting my business and now charging me for the service.

I spent 10 minutes on the phone with a lady who I could hardly understand to be passed on to another lady, who promise me that they were not sending our pro forma invoices to companies like mine.

After insisting I received phone call back and not a lame email. You guessed it, I got an email stating from the CEO “Gavin Male” stating "It was not spam", "It was not phishing" however it was a human error and I hope you accept my apologies.

I actually recorded the conversation and published it as, a YouTube video on the "DANNY : DE HEK YouTube channel". I simply hate companies that hind behind a call centres and send out spam like emails asking for payment for services not requested.

The real problem is if I had an account manager they probably would've paid this invoice thinking that was for advertising and I'm pretty sure I would've continued to receive a bill every month. Personally I think it is freaking ridiculous. How many others have received it and paid it in error and what do they intend to do about it? They should be billed for the time I spent investigating it.

If you can give me any leads, images or videos, helping me track down any information about these people please submit it via DANNY : DE HEK website’s Contact https://www.dehek.com/contact/ page (anonymously)

Hi Danny,

Tilly in the call centre for NZ compare passed on your message from yesterday.

We have voided the invoice you received for $23. It should not have been sent.
You were one of 3 businesses that were incorrectly invoiced following the transition of invoices from the old PriceMe platform to our Xero platform at Global Compare Group.

It was not spam.
It was not phishing.
It was a human error and I hope you accept my apologies.

When invoice data of customers was copied across from the old PriceMe platform to this one, yours and 2 other businesses copied with an error on ‘live’ status. Hence the $20 + GST minimum invoice generated.
Happy to discuss this further if you wish but there is little I can add except this explanation.

The telephone number that appears on the PriceMe site is a requirement for NZ trading companies which process payments via credit card.
This is the best number to use for PriceMe queries as it is more likely to have someone working who can answer and then messages are passed on and responded to – like this one.

Many thanks and apologies again.
Best regards,
Gavin
