Your Inner Judge: Good or Bad? And When?

These days when I’m writing music or lyrics I tend to evaluate and judge what I’m writing in the very moment I’m writing it. I fully realize that this is huge impediment to deeper authentic expression and I’m endeavoring to not do this.

I don’t want to “judge” my music or lyrics so much, but with 30+ years of experience in music production and audio engineering, very often I can immediately tell when a creative idea is not particularly good. And it’s difficult, almost impossible to ignore that feeling in the moment.

In the most practical areas of our lives each of us definitely NEEDS to evaluate and judge for our own wellbeing - like choosing good food, or choosing how to earn money, or choosing how to spend money, etc.

Obviously creative endeavors should be handled differently, right?

Any insight you have would be helpful to me. Comment below.
