In this episode, we unbox and test out the Dobe ECHZOVE Gaming Grip for the Nintendo Switch OLED, is this potentially a less expensive option to the Satisfye Gaming Grip?

One of the most popular accessories for the Nintendo Switch has been gaming grips. Something that goes around the body of the system and gives you something more substantial to hold on to while playing. There are a number of options out there for the switch, but for some reason manufacturers have not produced as many as quickly for the OLED version. Dobe sent us one of their gaming grips for the Switch OLED, and for 20 bucks it actually has a lot of nice features.

Available in either black or white, the dove gaming grip offers a similar shape to the Joy-Con grip on the left and right-hand side of your system. In addition to that, it also incorporates a kickstand to be able to play in tabletop mode. Under that kickstand, you also have storage for three different gaming cartridges. Pretty clever.

The grip itself is molded out of plastic composite, and it has some flex to it. I don't think it's so much that you need to worry about, but it is possible you could flex it in a moment of gaming rage and your switch could pop out. Something to be aware of. While initially, I was not able to pop the switch in through the face of the unit, I slid it down through the rails as it were, I was able to remove it using this method. So there's definitely some give here.

Out of the box, the kickstand on my unit was not attached to the keepers up top. It was no big deal as they snapped right back into place, but a little bit more padding in the box could have prevented this from happening. Speaking of which, the box got mangled by the freight carrier, something I was not happy to see. Thankfully the grip came through undamaged.

With my white Switch OLED installed, I got to playing some games. There is a bit of a texture to the plastic, but it still has some slipperiness to it. A little bit more texture here might make that a little better. The overall feel was pretty comfortable, and for those looking for a direct comparison, I do feel like the grips are not angled as much nor as wide as the Satisfye Gaming Grips. You may like that, or you may not. I personally don't care for the satisfied grips, specifically the fact that the right grip is slightly wider than the left. It just throws me off. This is a symmetrical design and, at least for me, more comfortable

One thing I initially forgot to check out was the cartridge storage! I slid in one of my cartridges and was pleasantly surprised to see that there was a little keeper to help make sure that the games don't fall out and transport. That's really nice. They also molded an opening in the back of the grip to help capture everything as well. You will not lose any games using this holder.

Why it RoX:
- Only $20
- Available in two colors
- Stores three cartridges safely
- Built-in kickstand for tabletop mode

What could be improved:
- Plastics are a little bit on the flexy side
- A little bit slippery
- Grips are a bit too small for my taste

Should you buy one?
For only $20, this gaming group has a lot going for it. If you are a parent and looking for a way for your kids to hold their console more comfortably this does a really good job. Is it of the quality of a Satisfye Gaming Grip? No, I won't say that it is, but you're also not paying that price either. You do get what you pay for, and I do feel like this punches above its weight class a little bit. Add in the functionality of the cartridge storage and the built-in kickstand and you have a good value for what you're spending.
