Disney Plus Prices UP While Domestic Subscribers STALL | Bob Chapek's New Swagger?

Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Chapek sat down for an interview with CNBC recently, just a day after the Walt Disney 3rd Quarter Earnings Report to discuss the very successful performance of the company.

Of course, the topic of Disney Plus and Disney Plus subscribers came up with Disney adding about 15 million new subscribers in the quarter ended June 30th. However, CNBC picked up on something we did as well during the earnings call we LIVESTREAMed on Wednesday August 10th, and that was Disney Plus only added 100,000 net new subs in the domestic, North American, marketplace.

With new Disney Plus domestic pricing set to rise in December to $11 per month for premium and the new advertising tier of Disney Plus set to launch concurrently at $8, questions arise as to why the domestic growth seems to have stalled...

During the 3rd fiscal quarter from April 1st through June 30th 2022, Disney found itself stuck in a battle of politics thanks to a small but vocal faction at the Walt Disney Company over Florida House Bill 1557, The Parental Rights In Education Bill.

One has to wonder how much impact that had on net subscriber growth over the quarter, as it would seem that people cancelling Disney Plus almost outweighed new subscriber additions.

Disney Plus will need some robust content additions to keep up the pace as they march towards their 2024 goals of profitability.
