PAST AND FUTURE DAYS – KEN POMA

See what’s all around you, take your time,
Take in what’s before you, don’t be kind.
The world was here before you, it takes its time,
It will be beyond you, that’s not a crime.
Past and future day, melt into a haze,
Sliding on a scale,
A weight that can’t be weighed.

Life is always changing, it can’t be chained,
Do you know another option? Don’t be afraid.
The sun comes up behind you, it takes its time,
The sun sets down before you, there is no sign.
Past and future days, building a tall maze,
Tearing down the trail, leaving no trace.
Who says it’s right or wrong? Won’t find it in a song,
We’ll have to build each day again.

Who knows what we could have been?
Who knows if we have the time?
Who knows if we could make things right?
Who knows why the day turns into the night?

Past and future days, melt into a haze,
Can’t see through the clouds,
And why would you ever want to?

There’s something in the night air, the smell of rain,
Drops steaming on the pavement, there is no pain.
Birds singing in the morning, the Earth’s refrain,
Don’t hold on too tightly, let it slip away.

Past and future days, melting in the haze,
Can tell no right or wrong, only in song.
Last is first one day, maybe not today,
Hope they find its place again.

See what’s all around you, take your time.
It will be here beyond you.
