Just Passin' Through - Eps 5 The Holocaust, Coming to America and Teaching Chemistry

My high school chemistry and physics teacher, Dr. Karl Schwenk was one of my favorite professors and had a big impact on me. Occasionally, "Doc," as we all called him, would relay personal stories of being a young boy in Hungary and seeing the Nazi atrocities toward the Jews in WWII, his mother's avoidance of punishment by the SS for helping the Jews, his coming to America after the war and becoming a chemistry and physics teacher. I went back a couple years ago to interview Doc and get some of these stories in greater detail. To know what happened in those dark times as well as the impact it had on someone's life is a story I think needs to be told.
