Why would Christians watch movies? This is not a question many of us have often asked ourselves... When we realize movies are full of violence, bad language, and plenty of other things we try to avoid, we begin to understand that movies may not provide much for our faith. Movies are also (typically) made by people who often hold different beliefs that Christians, so why should we bother to watch them if they are not helping us become closer to God?

Well, there are a few reasons that should be considered. In this video essay, we explore the very purpose of what movies can serve for our faith and why we should be humbled enough to learn from them.

This video is based on the essay written by James Sinclair on his website jrsinclair.com. Much of James' original essay was omitted for pacing reasons, but you can read his brilliant essay here in its entirety:

I wanted to put together a video that shows the importance of movies in accordance with what is most important to us: our faith in Jesus.

And because I know it’ll be asked: NO, I haven’t seen all of the films featured in the video; There's 227 movies featured and I haven’t seen (I think) 5 of them... but I’ll get around to those last few...
