Just a couple of Labor notes before we go into the fun half today. A couple of good wins out in San Francisco. There was a three-day more or less general strike that shut down the majority of SFO, that's the airport. 84 restaurant Outlets. A lot of these employees reported wages of 17 bucks an hour which required them to work multiple jobs in around-the-clock shifts to make ends meet. Very expensive in the San Francisco area. One employee on the picket line told the SF Gate that's the San Francisco paper out there. She was paid San Francisco's minimum wage of 16.99 an hour and had not received a single raise in the 20 years she had worked at SFO. She frequently had to sleep in her car or at the airport between shifts. Other staff raised concerns about their ability to continue to provide Health Care to their family members. So they struck for three days. It ended Wednesday night from last Wednesday when the SFO Airport Restaurant employer Council and workers reached a tentative deal that was unanimously approved by the bargaining committee. Now most workers are expected to receive close to a 30 percent raise to 22 dollars. they're going to get platinum-tier family health insurance with no premiums. and co-pays less than 30. The new contract also includes a retention policy. That's good news.
