Border Church - James and Galatians: It Takes 2 to Gospel, Part 5 - James 3

How do we control our tongues? The solution is presented alongside the problem - Look up! This passage had me reflecting on the well-known quote from Lao Tzu. The chain of destiny, as it is often called, goes as follows:

Thoughts → Words → Actions → Habits → Character → Destiny

This entire chain is missing something critical. Something that goes before "thoughts". It is focus. Where is your focus? What you focus on will inspire your thoughts and this sets the whole chain in motion. Your focus determines your destiny. James 3 closes with the a discourse on "wisdom that is from above". James knows he has to draw our eyes upwards if we are ever to change our destiny.
