Practical Shooting Will Get You Killed.................................................NOT
The argument about practical shooting or gamer shooting or USPSA being a negative is a funny discussion. At the end of the day it comes down to tactical shooters getting their egos hurt. As a training tool shooting matches is invaluable. Tactical shooters always talk about stress, we’ll match stress is nothing compared to gun fighting stress, yet match stress will make underdeveloped skill fall apart in ways you can’t recreate on your own range. Practical Shooting is a game, it’s fast, you have to be accurate to win, and it’s fun as hell.
Elements in this hoser stage are all things defensive minded shooters should master. Paper targets are at defensive distances, three pieces of steel required different levels of conformation, movement needed to be aggressive and controlled, gun handling needed to be quick…how does any of this hurt your defensive/tactical training. It doesn’t it only hurts your ego because it’s measured and results are posted publicly.
I’m a tactical shooter by trade and train in a practical way for 85% of my hard skills training. It’s served me well and I haven’t been killed in the streets yet, which is amazing.
