Prayer is what I call a "vast economy." There is no end of learning, growing, stretching and deepening in a life of prayer. After all, as we grow, so must our prayer life grow along with it. Where there is no prayer in a persons life, that would indicated a spiritually dead internal environment. Those that pray are alive in the Lord.

There are so many different kinds of prayer, and there must be. There are so many kinds of seasons, issues and things. However, there are times when we are told some very terrible news and asked to pray. And instead of going straight into it, we feel paralyzed.

The thing is too great and there is a stark emptiness of any kind power to pray. We try to pray right away but words stop in our mouth, and the words that did escape feel flat and empty. God does not expect us to instantly fall down and pray something that we cannot touch with our heart.

Listen as I lay out for you Biblical examples of what to do when this happens. When the hard prayers must be prayed. Do not be so hard on yourselves. Jesus even said, "the Spirit is always willing but the flesh is weak." You cannot lift what is too heavy for you. Only the Holy Spirit has power to do it.

Give yourself room to sit down, cry if you have to. Mourn, and if need be, fast for certain days, then rise up to pray when you KNOW the power has been given to you.

Like David said in Psalm 62:11, "God hath spoken once, twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God."

"Faith is deliberate confidence in the character of God whose ways you may not understand at the time.” ― Oswald Chambers
