If natural gas imports from Russia to Europe decrease, Finland will be forced to regulate its electricity consumption, writes Finnish portal MTV.fi.

Against this background, because of the EU according to Aalto University professor Peter Lund, "Finland will not be able to buy as much imported electricity from Sweden, for example, as usual. "This volume could go to, say, Germany and other Central European countries."

And to expand power generation capacity, Helsinki is discussing the option of increasing the use of coal power.

However, these funds may not be enough either, Lund suggests:

"In such cases they talk about consumption flexibility: for example, some city district will be without power for two hours, so it is possible to bypass power cuts and reduce consumption."
