The sudden sandstorm hit the city of #Mexicali, in the state of #BajaCalifornia causing material damage and power outages and leaving 2 injuries.
The strong winds, of up to 86 km/h, or 53 mi/h, created a #haboob effect, and in a matter of minutes, the city went dark, being covered by a curtain of dust.
The wind gusts knocked down about 70 trees and damaged various structures of public and private schools.
In particular, the wind brought down a structure in the facilities of the University of Durango, damaging several vehicles.
The State Civil Protection Coordination, in Baja California reported, that the phenomenon led to power cuts, as 74 electric poles fell, leaving 191,561 households without electricity.
