There seems to be a huge shift from acting to activism. Actors aren’t the only group to be making this transition, (no, they don’t need hormone blockers – it’s not that kind of a transition)... Transitioning into 'spotlight activism', musicians, artists, & comedians, sports figures & TV personalities. It’s nothing new for folks to undergo an industry lull or for certain individuals to experience a break in their own career. What is most definitely new is the internet & social-media platforms, which We’re thinking are partially to blame for the influx of ‘Factivism’, (Our acronym for ‘False-activism’.) Initially this increase in humanitarian efforts by industry ‘stars’ registered as good news, how could ‘more help’ possibly hurt(?)
The sad fact is, monetarily speaking, things haven’t changed all that much. Who'd a thought, even though some famous people began to talk about “contributing to society as a whole”. Interestingly, those with the most resources to tackle Our countries fundamentals can be found either in ‘Big Tech’, ‘Big Pharma’ or affiliated with the Federal Government.
We don’t claim to be activists, factivists or hacktivists… though We can’t speak for the entire DaamnTalk community! It’s true, We’ve done a fair amount of work behind the scenes in parts of Washington; from creating community meetings discussing unproductive law enforcement officials, to joining the Recovery Alliance in Olympia & speaking with members of congress attempting to get them to delegate more aid to Our nation’s drug epidemic. We took part in many demonstrations in the city of Seattle, from the Obama era of 2012 – to Our first presidential campaign collaboration in 2016 – Speaking to crowds about addiction & homelessness at Studio7 & through HipHop at ‘Seattle Hempfest’. It’s fair to say that the majority of what We’ve accomplished "over the course of Our *performing / *recording career" has been selfish. An attempt to advance the brand… In fact, We’d look thrice at one in a similar position who claims otherwise.
Since 2020- Our passion- IS DaamnTalkDJO! As a new father, an understanding of Our world today is paramount in raising Our children. Beginning as a part-time side project back in 2016, We set out to create an alternative source for ‘heavy’, ‘hot-button’ issues. DaamnTalk.DJO is way more than a podcast of curious characters conversing controversial content… DaamnTalk is more than the #DailyDaamn, short clips of ‘MissedNews+DiffViews’. We’re much more than ‘another source of trustworthy information. *We are a channel designed to get *Us to contemplate & create dialog. A platform protected by a paywall, free of unnecessary algorithms, censorship, discrimination & shadow banning. A place where We don’t have to type in fear! A community for people of all walks to come together & openly discuss, debate & ultimately 'agree to disagree'. DaamnTalk (DontJustObey) is an alternative to any frustration you’ve experienced while on Twitter, Discord, TruthSocial or while steadily submerged in ‘The Book of Faces’.
