As the once white hot housing market rapidly cools, sellers are becoming anxious.

One in five homeowners lowered their asking price in August, according to Realtor.com. A year ago, this percentage was only 11%.

Moreover, mortgage rates have increased, reaching an all-time high in June before decreasing somewhat in July and most of August. However, they are on the rise again and are approaching their June peak.

Homes are simply not selling as quickly as they were six months ago, when strong demand met a limited supply, bidding battles were common, and a seller could frequently obtain a signed contract in less than a weekend.
