Mechanical engineering is a broad major that can be broken up into different subfields or concentrations. The main concentrations I discuss in this video are Mechatronics, HVAC, and Manufacturing.

Mechatronics is the combination of electrical, mechanical, and computer engineering where you will take classes on microcontrollers, signal processing, and much more. This is a great concentration for those who are on the fence between electrical and mechanical engineering.

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning. This is all about providing environmental comfort to various buildings and structures like homes, offices, and hospitals.

Manufacturing engineering is about the process, machines, and tools that are used to turn raw materials in goods. Manufacturing engineers work on improving the process to make products we all know of (phones, planes, food, etc). They have to figure out how to make the engineering drawing come to life. This is very similar to what an industrial engineer might do.
