Swathed in Grief 😭💔

Swathed in Grief!

O’ light of sky touch not my eyes.
Wrap dark shroud ‘bout my body.
Keep the sound of morn’s lark silent,
so, others hear my deepest sighs.

I wish not to see morning dew
kiss the dying grass with moist life.
End humor’s charm heard in the night
that reminds me once more of you.

Bring now peace to my troubled soul.
Batten down the hatches of grief.
Raise high the banner of sorrow
as rings loudly death’s mournful toll!
Sheila Bowyer Kline

“There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief.”
– Aeschylus

“Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” – Emily Dickinson

“Though lovers are lost, love shall not; and death shall have no dominion.” Dylan Thomas
