Damascus, July 3rd, 2019 - I had the privilege of spending a part my last day in Damascus this year with Sally and Hanny Al Assaly of Atta children's charity.

These two do some amazing work with children with disabilities. For instance, they held a fashion show for kids with Down's Syndrome - a condition that is often an embarrassment to Syrian families, resulting in the kids living very restricted lives. Hanny and Sally had them walking the catwalk, wearing the latest fashion, accompanied by local celebrities.

Atta also work with children with cancer, but due to the sanctions imposed by the US, Europe and Australia, cancer medications are almost impossible to obtain, severely limiting what the medical system can do for these poor children.
