These people believe their own delusional rationales. They believe higher reason is their gift and that it makes them gods.

But in fact they've simply addicted themselves to the sick habit of narcissism and self-aggrandizement; ignoring the nuances and subtleties recognized by those with spiritual and ethical insights is necessary to maintain their self-aggrandizement.

Jacques Attali has been accused of quotes recommending limiting length of life, depopulating by targeting the sick and elderly, and tricking the gullible to eliminate them in several books, including "Verbatim" and "Brief History of the Future". I don't own the books so I can't tell what the exact language he used was.

But if we turn to Snopes its quite bad enough. They attempt to provide cover for one of their own (and it might actually work to convince in societies of the world where persecuted people didn't already throw off the chains of their oppressors. But being familiar with the U.S. Bill of Rights and writings of America's founders, I don't find their excuse for his plutocratic & totalitarian mindset the least bit effective.

Quotes from Snopes (this was taken on October 3, 2022).

"However, the economist [Attali] does not plead for generalized euthanasia. Rather, he speaks out against an infinite lengthening of the life, after having exposed some thoughts on the interest of the leaders and the companies in that people live long, according to their state of health."

Clearly he is not simply advocating for limits when technology permits "infinite" life. He's talking about lengthening life and letting "leaders" and "companies" weigh the choices on what is to be done for us, favoring trickery.
