Ob/gyns with IU Health and the Indiana University School of Medicine told state legislators in testimony on Nov. 23, 2021, that the Covid-19 vaccines are safe for 'pregnant people' and babies and urged them to remove the language from their bill allowing exemptions to corporate vaccine mandates for people who are pregnant. The language was subsequently removed from what became House Bill 1001. The bill was passed by the Indiana General Assembly in the spring of 2022 and signed into law by Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb.
