This clip was taken from one of Hillsdale’s free college courses. In this clip, Professor Kevin Porteus explains how basic rights were stripped from anyone who disagreed with slavery. Rights like freedom of speech were almost non existent, your home could be raided, mail could be opened and read if you were suspected of being an “abolitionist”.
