Mabon nel calendario pagano celtico è la seconda festa del raccolto. Nell’Antica Stregoneria italiana questo periodo veniva chiamato “La Secunda”.

Nelle campagne è tempo di raccogliere i frutti cresciuti nella calda estate e di prepararsi alla natura che sta per entrare nel periodo del riposo per rigenerarsi. Ma c’è una leggenda mitologica legata a questo periodo dell’anno, meraviglioso e malinconico allo stesso tempo.
_In the countryside it is time to collect the fruits grown in the hot summer and to prepare for nature that is about to enter the period of rest to regenerate. But there is a mythological legend linked to this time of year, wonderful and melancholic at the same time_

Demetra, dea greca del grano e madre di Persefone fu privata dell’amata figlia da Plutone (detto anche Ade) il dio degli inferi per farne la sua regina.
_Demeter, Greek goddess of wheat and mother of Persephone, was deprived of her beloved daughter by Pluto (also called #Hades) the god of the underworld, to make her his queen_

Demetra smise di mantenere i campi rigogliosi. Il grano iniziò a seccarsi e la natura verdeggiante iniziò ad ingiallire e a morire, senza più il calore del sole estivo, oscurato dalle fredde nubi cariche di pioggia salata per via delle lacrime della dea, tremendamente afflitta dal dolore.
_Demeter stopped keeping the fields lush. The wheat began to dry out and the verdant nature began to turn yellow and die, without the heat of the summer sun, obscured by the cold clouds full of salty rain because of the tears of the goddess, tremendously afflicted by pain_
.
Fu così che Zeus impose un compromesso...
