I have tried a few wireless Karaoke type microphones before with mixed results, but this one seems a cut above the rest and at £32.99 before discounts, it is slightly more expensive.

In the box are the microphone, anti-slip ring, receiver, charging cable, 6.35mm to 3.5mm plug adapter and a rather basic User Guide. It is a pity no storage case or Pop filter was included.

The receiver has a large size 6.35mm jack plug, fine for stage and studio use but not for camera or phone use without an adapter. The supplied 6.35mm to 3.5mm adapter allowed it to work perfectly with my camera. Build quality is excellent throughout with a robust plastic casing for the mic and receiver bodies and an aluminium alloy guard for the sensitive microphone ribbon. The receiver has a delicate non-removable antenna, so take care of it. No case is provided, a great pity, but the product box has a custom foam interior and is robust enough for storage use. The Mic takes two AA batteries with a built-in 450mAh USB rechargeable battery for the receiver.

On the front of the microphone is a button to turn it on and concealed inside the body, accessable by unscrewing the lower part of the mic grip, are buttons to vary the output volume and change the active radio frequency. Above the power button is the backlit LCD screen showing the battery and connection status. On the front of the receiver is a button to turn it on and display the LED status light for connection and battery status.

Using the system could not be easier. Plug the receiver jack into your amp or other devices, switch the mic along with the receiver and wait about three seconds. The receiver LED will flash during pairing and go solid when paired. That’s it, now start singing.

If you intend to use more than one microphone (the receiver can support multiple connections) or if there is interference to the radio reception you can change the radio channel by long pressing the microphone power button to switch from Channel A to Channel B and you can switch the available 30 frequencies within each channel by pressing the Set button inside the microphone casing.

I found the system to be first-rate with decent sound quality, no distortion or RF interference and good range. The only issues I found, and these are minor and easily resolved, were that the mic body generated fumbling noise if not held carefully and that it was prone to plosive pop sounds due when held close to the mouth, easily mitigated with the use of a foam pop filter which are widely available online.

This is an excellent buy for the price and will be perfect for karaoke, party or stage use.
