Save Time & Money: Prep Your Own Dinner Days Ahead, Make the Most of Your Food

Meal prepping is all about doing as much as you can ahead of time. In order to save money it is important to take more responsibility for preparing our own food. Instead of buying a potato soup mix, make the mixes yourself, then add the few ingredients it takes to complete the meal. When you make one of something, double or triple it if you are going to be using it again some time soon. This will save you time in the future.

Here I make several pans of bacon because the oven is hot and I already have it out. This saves me money because I don't have to heat up the oven some other time. Plus I will need it for another meal. The chicken broth is also for other meals. I cut the chicken up and had the leftovers ready and available. Instead of throwing the bones and leftovers away, I used them to make more food. The bone broth is very nutritious and the bones still have meat on them. Use as much as you have to save money. Throw away as little as possible. The broth and leftover meat become chicken soup.

Do as much as you can today so you are not pressed for time tomorrow.

Meal prepping is an essential skill to learn in these times. It is important to be able to take what food you have or can get and make the most with it. Buy your food on sale and then make your plan for the least expensive food. Don't buy convenience foods. Prep them yourself!
