Sonic Boom in Northern Utah and Southern Idaho - News from the Wasteland

The "boom" heard throughout northern Utah and parts of southern Idaho on Saturday morning was most likely a meteor, officials said. The noise was so loud, the University of Utah's seismograph monitoring department received reports from people who said they felt the "boom," causing concerns of an earthquake. "We can confirm that it was not an earthquake," the department said on Twitter. Utah Gov. Spencer Cox tweeted he heard the noise while on a morning run in Salt Lake City, adding the noise didn't come from nearby military instillations. The noise was captured on home security cameras, and some people shared footage with audio on social media.
