I am feeling a bit disillusioned today, as you can tell from my two previous posts, I am having a standoff with my 'Ego'...and ego in general.
On a personal level, it keeps me separated from my loved ones, and I hate it. On a social level, it keeps us separated from one another, and I despise it.
As I look outwardly through my two physical eyes, I feel concern and I pray to God that humanity will not slide into some gross darkness of barbarism where we will actually kill each other over our "egoic" differences. I don't know if we are enlightened enough in our consciousness to prevent this from happening.
With my inner eye, I am drawn to the passage from Revelation 20:4 which reads:
Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshipped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
In the past I would have tried to understand this passage and apply it to some literal event, as Christians are prone to do and many are still believing and expecting the guillotines to come out to behead them for believing in Jesus.
Just this moment a new understanding is coming to me as I am meditating on the 'ego'. The 'ego' rules from within our "head" space, and so does the 'beast'.
What is our testimony about Jesus? It's not what we profess with our lips, or believing some Nicean creed.
What did Jesus always say? He who wants to be my disciple (in other words, learn from me) must "deny himself"... deny one's 'ego'.
The souls who were beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, may in fact be those who 'behead' their EGO in order to stop worshipping the ravenous beast and it's image (within). -- The image of the beast is the false YOU! and it is inside your head.
If this is taken as a strictly "literal" event that may or may not take place, a whole bunch of people will end up taking the "egoic" soul imprint with them and find themselves at the great judgement of Matt 25.
It also makes no sense to take Revelation 6:10 literal.
"They shouted to the Lord and said, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you judge the people who belong to this world and avenge our blood for what they have done to us?”
Do you really believe that the glorified (perfected) Jesus would take vengeance on our enemies, when He reflected far greater divinity while walking on the earth forgiving those who killed Him?
Just leaving something for you to think about today.
