Russian men of all ages and stages in life are leaving everything behind as they flock across neighboring borders to escape Putin's conscription
order to join the war in Ukraine. There are tens of thousands of Russian escapees fleeing to the safety of Georgia, carrying whatever they can hold. Having walked or cycled to the nearest borders from their homelands; not Ukrainians fleeing the war, but Russians fleeing the draft.

Denis, a Russian fleeing conscription, (english translation): “I came because we don’t know what to expect , says Denis. The country has no plan, and we can see that. The feeling of uncertainty is our biggest fear “

George, another Russian fleeing conscription: “It’s all because we can't trust our government anymore. Because they speaked a lot of lies, and we already hear that there will not be any mobilization at all. But six months later, we're here, and what will be going on another six months? I don't know and I don't want to try it out.” George’s first few steps into Georgia determined but also filled with sadness and the fear he says that he may be walking away from his motherland for good."
