Brown bear (scientific name: Ursus arctos): is a carnivorous, bear family. Also known as a grizzly bear. It is one of the largest mammals of the order Carnivora on land, with a body length of 1.5-2.8 meters and a shoulder height of 0.9-1.5 meters. The male weighs 135-545 kg and the female weighs 80-250 kg. The head is large and round, the body is strong, and the shoulders are raised. The coat is thick and dense, up to 10 cm in winter; colors vary, such as gold, brown, black and brown-black. The forearm is very powerful, and the tip of the front paws can reach up to 15 cm. These claws are relatively blunt as they cannot be retracted into the sheath like felines do. The forearm is powerful in its swipe, and the "blunt" claws can do great damage.
Mainly inhabits cold temperate coniferous forests, mostly active during the day, walking slowly, without a fixed habitat, and usually acts alone. During hibernation, the frequency of body temperature, heartbeat, excretory system and respiration will decrease and slow down to reduce the loss of heat and calcium, and prevent hypothermia and osteoporosis. When running, the speed can reach 56 kilometers per hour. During hibernation, litters are born, 1-4 litters per litter, and female bears often bring cubs to play in the forest in spring. The diet is more complex. Plants include various rhizomes, tubers, forages, grains and fruits, etc., and they like to eat honey. Animals include ants, ant eggs, insects, rodents, ungulates, fish and carrion. Distributed in Eurasia, and most of the North American continent.
