Anorexia vs Gender Confusion: The Key Points Missing From This Popular Argument

An argument I frequently see from people trying to point out the absurdity of "affirming" gender confused kids with things as drastic as drugs and surgery is that we wouldn't "affirm" anorexic individuals with liposuction. So why would we "affirm" other types of body dysmorphia with life-altering, permanent methods?

I appreciate this point - I just think there are a few key components missing from it when it's made as a counter argument to gender identity in children.
