Donetsk votes to join Russia, says Russian officials

Denis Pushilin, the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, called it a "historic day" for the region at a news conference to announce the results. Russian-installed officials called victory with over 99% of votes in favour in a referendum denounced by the West as a sham.
