Slayer - Altar Of Sacrifice (Lyrics on Screen Video 🎤🎶🎸🥁)

This one (like all the others on this album hehe) comes out thrashing and bashing. 1:29 is a good part. I feel this song is about someone who is about to be sacrificed to or for Satan. 0:55 is a nice lick and part. You can tell Slayer is really hungry this whole album, every song is great. The solo's remind me of something you would hear in hell, twisted sound! 2:15 is a nice lick too. I'm really glad to be doing this album finally haha. Enjoy!

🎤 Lyrics Start 🎤

[Verse 1]
Waiting the hour destined to die
Here on the table of hell
A figure in white, unknown by man
Approaching the altar of death
High priest awaiting, dagger in hand
Spilling the pure virgin blood
Satan's slaughter, ceremonial death
Answer his every command

[Verse 2]
Death will come easy, just close your eyes
Dream of the friends, you'll see
Heavenly failure, losing again
Move on to a new form of life

[Chorus]
Altar of sacrifice, curse of the damned
Confronting the evil you dread
Coalesce into one your shadow and soul
Soon you will meet the undead

[Lead: Hanneman]

[Chorus]
Altar of sacrifice, curse of the damned
Confronting the evil you dread
Coalesce into one your shadow and soul
Soon you will meet the undead

[Bridge]
Enter to the realm of Satan!

[Lead: King]

[Verse 3]
Blood turning black, the change has begun
Feeling the hatred of all damned in Hell
Flesh starts to burn, twist and deform
Eyes dripping blood, realization of death
Transforming of five toes to two
Learn the sacred words of praise, Hail Satan

[Lead: King]

[Verse 4]
A gift of powers disposed upon you
Use them when you feel the need
Master the forces and powers of Satan
Controlling the creature's instinct
Drawn to the castles that float in the sky
Learn to resist the temptation
Watching the angels sift through the heavens
Endlessly searching for salvation

[Lead: King]

“Table of Hell”, a metal way to say “Altar”, the place of the sacrificial.

An altar is a structure upon which offerings such as sacrifices are made for religious purposes. In this case, the victim is being sacrificed to join Satan in hell. This painting depicts the sacrifice of Iphigenia, painted by Italian rococo painter Corrado Giaquinto in the 17th-century.

The demonic killer beacons you to join Satan in hell. Hell is normally depicted as a fiery inferno, and according to some religions, including Christianity and Islam, hell is an eternal destination. A painting by Dutch painter Jacob van Swanenburg depicting hell called The Harrowing of Hell.

This verse depicts the victim, now in hell, transforming into a demon. His blood turns black, and he feels the hatred of hell. His body is being deformed and burned with extreme pain. He learns the sacred words of Satan, and he now obeys him. This could refer to Baphomet, the sacred worshiping of Satan.

Reign in Blood is regarded by critics as one of the most influential and extreme thrash metal albums.[9] In its "Greatest Metal Bands Of All Time" poll, MTV praised Slayer's "downtuned rhythms, infectious guitar licks, graphically violent lyrics and grisly artwork," which they stated "set the standard for dozens of emerging thrash bands," while "Slayer's music was directly responsible for the rise of death metal." MTV described Reign in Blood as essential listening,[37] and the album was ranked number 7 on IGN's "Top 25 Most Influential Metal Albums".[38]

Reign in Blood is the third studio album by American thrash metal band Slayer, released on October 7, 1986, by Def Jam Recordings.[1] The album was the band's first collaboration with producer Rick Rubin, whose input helped the band's sound evolve. The release date of the album was delayed because of concerns regarding the lyrical subject matter of the opening track "Angel of Death", which refers to Josef Mengele and describes acts such as human experimentation that he committed at the Auschwitz concentration camp.[2] The band's members stated that they did not condone Nazism and were merely interested in the subject.[3]

Reign in Blood was well received by both critics and fans, and was responsible for bringing Slayer to the attention of a mainstream metal audience. Today, it is often mentioned among the greatest heavy metal records ever. In their 2017 listing of the 100 Greatest Metal albums of all time, Rolling Stone magazine ranked "Reign in Blood" at #6.[4] Alongside Anthrax's Among the Living, Megadeth's Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?, and Metallica's Master of Puppets, Reign in Blood helped define the sound of the emerging US thrash metal scene in the mid-1980s, and has remained influential since.
