Do you need a Keyboard on a budget? Or maybe you just want to test the mechanical keyboard waters out? Well, this keyboard might be the one for you!
Hey guys welcome back to the channel if you’re returning and if you are new, hello I’m your host MD. Today we are looking at the Z-13 89 Key 80% Mechanical keyboard by E-YOOSO
E-YOOSO was generous enough to send this keyboard out to me for unboxing and review. This video is to showcase the unboxing experience for the consumer and my initial thoughts of the product. I’ve added chapters in the description so feel free to skip around to whatever is most important to you. With that being said Let’s get into it.
The packaging is minimal, but it seems sufficient. Hopefully there is a keyboard in here. Yep it is there. Then you are met with a welcome card, instructions, keycap puller, switch puller, alternate keycaps, a usb-c to usb-a cable, and spare switches. This model came with red linear switches, but they also offer brown switches. These are hot swappable and are covered with PBT keycaps.
Now the first thing that is appealing to me is the inclusion of the number pad. In my current set up
I have a number pad setup separately because while I like the form factor of the 60% keyboard In this day and age we are constantly filling in captcha challenges or verifying 2 factor authentication codes and it is a lot easier using the number pad (at least for me) and It’s another device that looks cool on my desk.
This layout is still smaller than a full-sized keyboard, so you still save space if you have a limited desktop. You also have your dedicated function keys, so you don’t have to worry about extra keystrokes and key combinations to execute the same action. But to be honest I personally don’t use them that often.
Now some of the drawbacks of course are going to be the lack of rgb.
You only have this orange color for all the lighting effects.
You may be coming from a white keyboard or an all-black or grey one; but this color scheme even with the included orange keycaps still leave a lot to be desired.
Now don’t get me wrong, there is still exceptional value here given the price point but just something to consider.
It does have 19 lighting modes, 17 preset and 2 custom. You can adjust the brightness and ‘breathing’ speed to suit your taste.
It also has foldable feet on the bottom if you prefer an angled typing experience.
Personally, I don’t like the color scheme and I wouldn’t get it based off the rgb.
I haven’t modded any keyboards yet beyond switching keycaps out so I can’t speak firsthand on sound. But I think these reds sound and feel ok.
So, if this keyboard is up your alley, then there is a link below and while you’re there, please consider liking and subscribing if you’re like this type of content.
