Did you know you can walk to Caladesi Island from Clearwater Beach? In this video, we hike to one of the best beaches on the Florida gulf coast.

Most get to Caladesi Island State Park from a ferry that goes between Honeymoon
Island and Caladesi, but many are unaware that one can actually walk from Clearwater Beach to Caladesi Island State Park.

In 1921 a hurricane created a pass through a barrier island and that is when Caladesi and Honeymoon Islands were formed. Eventually sand started to accumulate in the southern pass between Caladesi and Clearwater. In 1985 Hurricane Elena displaced even more sand and sealed the pass for good. That is why we are now able to walk from Clearwater Beach to Caladesi.

While taking the ferry from Honeymoon Island would be a more relaxing option, we really enjoy the walk along the beach from Clearwater to Caladesi. The land/sand bridge between the two beautiful beach areas is completely empty of houses and you can really experience the natural beaches of Florida.
