This tutorial shows you techniques for getting stronger fruit flavors when making mead. Mead with fruit in it is called a Melomel. In this video we make a Melomel with strawberries. I show you the process step by step. Fun stuff!

Tips on getting a more flavorful fruit mead:

1. Use a clover honey. It has a milder flavor that won't overwhelm the fruit
2. Cut up the fruit into small pieces to release more flavor
3. Freeze, hammer and thaw the fruit. This causes ice crystals that break open the fruit cells
4. Use a pound of fruit per gallon of mead

In this video I also cover some nice mead making tips including how to handle cloudiness in a fruit mead and how to deal with the airlock overflowing and bubbling over.
